Red Hot Marsala

Source: Pantone

Pantone just announced Marsala as the color of 2015 and I’m sold. It’s a warm, earthy kind of burgundy with hints of copper and terracotta. I personally love all shades of red (did you know it increases your attractiveness level to guys?) so I was really happy to see Pantone pick this rich wine color.

For those of you going “What is Pantone and why do they get to pick the color of the year, hmm?”, this color guide company combs through the entire design industry, including fashion, interiors and industrials, to find a common color theme that ties together our current trends. It’s a process that takes over 12 months to complete!

See below for my favorite Marsala red picks:

This stunning dress, perfect for a holiday dinner party! ($332)

These trousers, which would keep your legs both warm and stylish at the office. ($70)

hmprod

Amazing (faux) snakeskin and velvet loafers for a steal ($30)

Or for a splurge, this slimming leather pencil skirt ($3,135)

And this classy Essie polish, which would go well with basically any outfit imaginable. ($8.50)

P.S. A look at past colors of the year:

So I’m not the only one who feels huge at Zara?

womens sizing

Racked and social shopping network, Fitbay, teamed up to do a study on which stores’ sizes run big and which ones’ run small. They looked at what percentage of women wear a small at each store and found that there can be as much as a 30% difference!

I personally agree with this nice little chart they made. I usually size up at Zara but I almost always size down at Banana Republic and J. Crew. I used to be really self-conscious about my size, sometimes squeezing myself into a dress even if I could barely breathe. Now I live by the mantra “you’re the only one who knows the size on the tag.” Everyone else just sees how it looks on you.

P.S. This article is sadly so true for me.

Christmas AND my birthday are coming up guys (wink wink ;) But seriously look at this beautiful assortment of leather, fur, fringe, and watercolor.

I threw the Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb eau de parfum in there because it smells like a heavenly mix of jasmine, rose and patchouli. It’s a perfect stocking stuffer for sisters, mothers, girlfriends, friends, and basically anyone else who wants to reek of goddess.

3 Of-a-Kind Clutches

Have you heard of Of a Kind? They curate limited-quantity pieces from selected designers. It’s basically the easiest way to avoid wearing the sweater that every other woman in town owns.

Right now I’m loving these three clutches from the site (all under $200!)

1. This decadent cowhide folded clutch

2. This classic grey Italian leather clutch

3. And this cool lizard-print clutch
